This week I have the honor of convening with a wonderful family of God’s people who compose music. We will meet at the Mercy Center in St Louis, MO for four days of prayer, discussion, learning, and loving fellowship. Did I mention the jam sessions? And the single-malt scotch? All that.
I remember when John Foley mentored me into the group known as the Liturgical Composers Forum. I remember my first time attending. I was awed into silence by the mere proximity of so many of my heroes. I was humbled to laugh with them at mealtimes, and to share spirited conversations with them. 17 years later, I am checking in for my flight to St Louis, and packing for my pilgrimage to the frozen heartland.
I will write each day if I am able. Mostly, I will be just breathing it all in, and giving thanks to God for this great gift.
