O Emmanuel, our King and Giver of Law:
come to save us, Lord our God!

This final antiphon expresses joy in the promise of fulfillment. We call Jesus by one of the most personal and intimate of his titles, Emmanuel, God-with-us. By his birth from the Virgin Mary God becomes one of us. He remains our king, the eternal lawgiver and judge, the one whom we honor and obey, yet he is flesh and blood as we are. This final cry of hopeful ongoing rises from our urgent need for daily salvation and forgiveness of our sins.  We rejoice in the confidence that God will hold nothing back from us, not even himself.
